CLAAS has strengthened its Metz-Woippy manufacturing site with the opening of two new baler assembly lines, supporting future growth and innovation in baler production. The investment underpins production of next-generation machines including the CEREX round baler and award-winning CUBIX square baler. With more than 100 years of baler expertise, CLAAS continues to expand its global agricultural technology leadership through advanced manufacturing, research and development, and cutting-edge baler solutions.

One year after opening a new prototype workshop, CLAAS inaugurated two new assembly lines at its Metz-Woippy baler site at the beginning of February, setting the manufacturing site up for future growth in balers.

“As a family business, balers have been part of our DNA for more than 100 years. Metz is our home for baler production, and France is one of CLAAS’ core markets. This is an investment in our future and reflects our commitment to the Metz region and to France as a whole. I am particularly proud of what our teams in Metz have achieved”, said Cathrina Claas-Mühlhäuser.

Balers are at the core of CLAAS’ business and represent one of the key competencies of the company, a 100-year legacy that gave birth to milestones such as the knotter billhook, VARIANT round balers, ROLLATEX net wrapping and QUADRANT square balers.

With new generations of variable round and square balers built in a state-of-the-art factory, CLAAS sets the stage for future growth. This investment looks to the future and is essential for the production of their new baler series, such as the CEREX round baler and the next-generation square baler CUBIX, Innovation Award winner in Gold at Agritechnica 2025.

Over recent years, we have systematically invested in R&D, our protoshop, infrastructure and production at the Metz-Woippy site to drive innovation and operational excellence. Last year, our teams successfully delivered the launch of a broad new baler product portfolio, which is now going into production on state-of-the-art production lines for customers all over the world”, says Thomas Spiering, COO.
