Steve Gorman
Product Manager - JCB — Landpower, Christchurch
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I come from a mixed cropping, potato and sheep farm near Methven, Canterbury. Through my passion for farm machinery I moved into Sales which offered me many opportunities and I have progressed into the role I'm in today - in Product Management. Coming from a retail background, I recognise the importance of providing the customer with sound, valuable advice, backed up by quality products and service. I am married with two children and in my spare time I enjoy taking the boat out water skiing, wakeboarding and surfing. During the winter time I enjoy watching my kids play sport along with supporting the All Blacks.
When did you start working Landpower?
I started in August 2016
What does a typical day involve?
Working closely with dealers and sales representatives around New Zealand, providing expert advice, machine specifications, troubleshooting sales & aftersales enquires, customer visits and liaising with JCB to ensure we are acquiring the right product for our applications here in New Zealand. Other areas I am responsible for include product training for the dealers and salespeople, field day support & regional demonstration programs, sales programs, price lists and new product introductions.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Working for a family owned business and being the Product Manager for a family owned product. Introducing new product to our network and being involved in the sales process, visiting our customers with the sale representatives to discuss the benefits JCB and CLAAS Harvest Centres have to offer. As a kid I grew up playing with toy tractors and now I just get to play with the bigger, real version!
