About the Väderstad Brand

Väderstad develops tillage methods and produces seed drills, cultivators, harrows and rollers suitable for different climates – from the sands of Australia to the clays of Northern Europe. Different crops place different demands on seed placement and soil tillage, so they develop machines that carry out several tasks, at a high work rate, in a single pass, to prepare fields ready for drilling at the right time and provide the best conditions for maximum yield.

History

Väderstad’s colourful history dates back to the early 1960s, at Rune and Siw Stark’s 30-hectare farm in Herrgården near Väderstad, Sweden. Since then, the company has been characterised by an entrepreneurial spirit, creation of ingenious farm machinery, and a strong drive to rationalise farming methods.

1962 – From wood to steel.

Rune Stark built his first rigid tine harrow from steel; the humble beginnings of Väderstad,

1966 – Harrow experimentation.

Experimenting led to the company’s first skid type harrow; the Väderstad runner harrow and the launch of the cultivator.

1970s – Building brand reputation in Sweden .

By this stage the firm was already known throughout all of Sweden as a manufacturer of rigid tine harrows and cultivators.

1982 – The launch of the drill.

Scandinavia’s most successful cultivator, “the NZ cultivator” and Väderstad’s first drill were launched.

1998 – Expansion for Väderstad.

During the 1990s, Väderstad greatly increased its volume in Sweden while international markets expanded even more quickly.
